While Dr. Karlyn Murata and her assistant were very nice and I was happy with the eye exam, this business failed on an entirely different level. Despite me insisting when I made the appointment that they check that my insurance was actually accepted (and me insisting to check the Insurance name and ID number), they said it wasn't necessary as they already found me in their computer system. “I had an amazing experience with Dr. Murata and her team. She is incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and truly cares about her patients. She took the time to explain everything thoroughly and made me feel completely at ease throughout my visit. The eye doctor was amazing and loved coming here, but will not be returning due to not being upfront regarding policies. Just ordered my glasses Friday after 5pm and contacted Saturday morning to cancel order to use my old frames. Got a call Monday morning that I would have to pay half of the frames and half of the lens without insurance as a restocking fee which comes out more than my original purchase because they have already been shipped to lab and started. I went in for annual check up with Dr. Nelson Murata today. I had such a nice visit with him. He does not rush, he is passionate and knowledgeable about all things ocular, and he took his time with me even though my concerns were minor. I learned so much about my eyes today. I will not go to any other optometrist. Also the facility is clean and modern, and the staff are friendly and professional. 10/10!
New patient but beautiful new office! I did wait ~25 minutes after my appointment time before I asked when I would be seen. After going to BOH, the receptionist came back after about 5 minutes to tell me that they’d be calling me shortly. Dr. Karlyn Murata is extremely eloquent and easy to talk to! I chose a place in Simi since driving to Van Nuys (usual optometrist) really takes a lot out of my day- I’m overall happy with the service and will be back for my rx lenses :)
