I have seen Dr. Mandel twice now and I have been pretty pleased with both experiences. Regarding wait times, they vary. The first time I went it was really fast, I had my appointment almost immediately after I entered. The second time was like an hour and 15 minute wait! The staff members are very laid back, helpful, and a little comical- they all have a sense of humor over there. My $400 was for my eye exam, a new pair of glasses with scratch protection, new glasses frames, and "1 year" of contacts (which made up for $200.)... read more
I'm a New York City employee and picked Dr. Mandel from a list of eye doctors I was given through the union. The staff is competent but I would not categorize them as overly friendly. The receptionist (a slightly overweight lady) wanted me to sign my optical voucher BEFORE I received any services. They do this so they can load the voucher with additional "procedures" they provide so they can get additional money from the union health plan. This office is kind of funny (seems like a family operation) but they are nice and seem competent. They are a bit TOO honest with glasses opinions but that's probably better than the alternative.
