Dr. Jeffrey Axelbank is one of those rare clinicians who combines exceptional expertise with genuine warmth and humanity. He is compassionate, thoughtful, and dedicated not only to the people he works with directly, but also to supporting fellow mental health professionals and the field as a whole. His knowledge of chronic pain is outstanding. He brings both clinical depth and a nuanced understanding of the mind-body connection I have been a member of his chronic pain/neuroplastic consultation group for years and have lear... read more
I had a client who went to Jeff's group and found he learned a lot about how he behaves in relationship to others. This person found it difficult to connect deeply to others despite a desire to. Group therapy with Jeff helped him become more connected. Jeff also ran a group within a course I taught to graduate students. After my therapist died suddenly, I joined Jeff’s group. At the beginning of our meetings, I felt muffled. Talking with others who know how it feels to have a therapist die helped. I made deep relationships with group members. Because of the process of group, I found my voice to say what I think and feel in group. I am deeply grateful to Jeff and to my group members as I continue to heal.
I have known Dr. Jeff Axelbank as a trusted colleague for many years. He is valued resource when clients need group- therapy. I sent a client of mine for group therapy with him and she has made amazing changes in terms of her interpersonal skills and social anxiety.
