I had shingles in my eye that had been misdiagnosed originally by an out of state provider as pinkeye. So when I woke up on New Years Day and my eye was swollen shut and extremely painful, I went to the Tully Center walk in and they called Dr. Fucigna who was the on-call ophthalmologist that day. The providers had already diagnosed the shingles, but wanted clarification on whether I should be put on IV antiviral meds or if oral medication would suffice. Very disappointed and discouraged. Made a 4:00 appointment for today which was confirmed by two office staff. Showed up 10 minutes early to complete paperwork. In the next half hour I was bypassed by 4 other people who arrived after me. When I questioned why, I was told I was an "emergency appointment." I asked what that meant and was told that my appointment was made yesterday or the day before which was not true - yesterday was Sunday, day before Saturday - office was closed. Poor billing practices; Terrible patient interaction. I was awaiting my annual exam in one of the examination rooms when Dr. Silver entered. He began not by greeting me, but by admonishing me: "I understand you haven't paid your bill...let's see what your problem is" as he thumbed through a file.
